There are different lucrative career choices one has an option to select. The youth of today has been exposed to technology like no other generation. It serves as an advantage as well as a disadvantage when it comes to using technology in exploring different career choices.
The youth is an age where one can select their career when influenced by someone else and those can be their family members, peers, role models, and so on.
When a youth has to decide their career for their life they often look up online in search of different career choices available to them. At this age, one has to start taking responsibility for their family and become the primary member of their family income.
Different reasons play a very crucial role when it comes for them to select their career which is available to them.
This is the age where they pursue education in the direction where they are going to spend most of the time learning about the field and another is gaining experience which later helps them decide if they want to go further in that career.
At this age, the big question arises that what are the career choices they can make?
Youth finds different ways to explore in the field of technology, teaching, science, medical, engineering, social science, arts, and humanities, etc.
There are career options youth must have never heard of before but yet they are very lucrative and legitimate career options one goes for.
Often most career choices they make first have to pass the eligibility criteria needed. To do that, they have to appear for different entrance tests and certain educational qualifications.
Once they pass out of school they have to decide which subject they want to study further. In India, one can go for Arts, science, commerce, design, or select any private institute where they can directly start with the career choice they wish to go for.
This is the most crucial time for youth to decide for themselves where they will be spending most of their time, money, and energy.
Youth of today’s generation has started thinking smartly and do not rush or get influenced with the decision they have to make. If they are not sure they choose to take a break for a year from study and go out to explore their hobbies and passion. They want to make a career out of their talents and skills like painting, singing, dancing, art, and craft, photography, social media, blogger, YouTuber, pursue a career in a foreign language, writing, traveling, or starting their own start-up business or explore the vast field of Sports, drama, and theatre.
This is the time when the youth is most energised and is ready to face all the time and energy to fulfil their career choices.
This is also a very confusing and difficult phase and hence one wishes to approach a counselor and career guidance to help them in the process.
The very same phase and opportunities are open for a person with special abilities.
They might face it challenging and difficult to cope up but the skills and thought process are the most useful resource for them. They have skills that a typical growing child may not have. A different set of skills in each individual helps them to pursue what is best suited for their career, Youth at this age are not afraid to take risks to search for their dream job or career. At this age having the right attitude and personality is going to boost the career choice decision easily. It is okay to be confused at this young age but one does have to remember taking bad decisions and failure helps identify the best-suited career for one.
They should although follow a specific approach to do this. While opting one can keep in mind the following steps to make career decisions.
1. To know about their strengths and weaknesses:
If a person has excellent skills in solving the problem by doing mental maths and they enjoy doing it they can consider options that require them to solve their math skills. Similarly, if they don’t enjoy practicing math they can excuse the options which require them to study math. Forcingly studying a subject or pursuing may lead them to get tired and stressed. Hence this also helps to identify career choices they are sure about.
2. Do thorough research:
Through thorough research, it does not mean to google it online but talk about the options they have in mind with their parents, family members, teachers, or mentors. Approach those who are already in the field and find out in detail about its perks and cons and before choosing irrespective of challenges knowing well in advance. There are also many career options available that are not listed online and one finds out when they do their research keeping in mind their likes and dislikes.
3. Never doubt capabilities:
Always have trust even if someone else doesn’t. Using and doing what we know about ourselves helps in excelling the career choice no matter what it is.
There are millions of career opportunities out in the world but one can also make a career out of their skills, talent, and passion.
